Review A recent trip through the north of Italy, from Rome to Venice, has fueled an explosion of creative activity in north Idaho. Robert Bissett's one-man show at Naples Gallery is aptly called "Visions of Italy". Some of this stunning new work was painted on location in Tuscany, some back in his Idaho studio. In either case Bissett was not interested in reporting just the facts of the Italian landscape and cityscape. Instead he has gone for the heart of Italy and given us his emotional response to some of the most beautiful vistas in all the world. If you've ever been to Italy this collection of masterpieces will transport you back in time. If you have yet to go Bissett's impressions will make you all the more eager to plan that trip. His use of color is unique and personal ranging from the intense to the subdued. Using brushes, rags, sponges and even fingers Bissett's handling of paint imparts an energy, honesty and excitement far beyond the ordinary. These visions are grand, mystical and true...they will leave you breathless.

Tuscan Twilight
Pienza Moon The day had been sunny and warm. We walked from the hotel on the way to dinner that evening. Glancing to the left I saw the full moon floating just above the horizon. It seemed to turn the fields and hills into a magical landscape.
